Skyloft Link with construction notes

Description

One of my more simple costumes, but definitely lots of fun and very comfy :3
It was also one of my least expensive costumes I've ever done. I had almost all the materials already on-hand besides the fabric for the shirt, newer ears, and boots. And most of that was either on sale or clearance XD.

The wig: I didn't have the funds to order something specifically for this costume when I was finishing it for Katsucon, but somehow I managed to find something that worked out pretty good in my stash of unused wigs. I had an Ashley 850 (I think it might have been color 24?) wig from Cosworx that I got several years for a different costume, but ended up not using it because it was a different color than I had expected. It ended up being close to the color I needed for SS Link, so I did a lot of straightening, chopping, and spiking to get this result XD. I think I'd eventually like to get a thicker wig, but for now I'm happy enough with this one. I used a razor to cut off most of it, and then just good ol' scissors and got2b hairspray for the bangs. The tips of the spikes have fabric glue to keep them together better.

Pants: I had a pattern for some yoga pants (McCall's 4261), though I had to take them in a lot because they originally came out really baggy. I used a green twill that I already had on-hand for another costume that never happened XD.

Shirts: The undershirt is a really cheap blue shirt I got at Walmart. For the tunic shirt I used a creme Ponte knit, and it's fully lined with a second layer of the same fabric. Used McCall's 4261 again as a base for the shirt pattern with some slight modifications like the collar, which was essentially an add-on of a long rectangle of fabric, and then the a little tube of fabric for the "tie" on the front (or whatever you want to call it). The designs were painted on with fabric paint. I had to watch trailers of the game over and over to figure out all the details (while I didn't have the wig done until Katsucon, the outfit itself was constructed before the game's release).

Red waist thing and belt: I just draped some fabric for this part. It has a seam on each side, and then another in the back where it Velcros together. The outside is a red faux suede, and it's lined with a red fleece. The designs were painted with white fabric paint. I first drew out the design in photoshop and then printed and used it a stencil. The belt is made from the same green twill as the pants, and it attaches in the back with velcro.
I've uploaded the design for the front so anyone can use it :3

Ears: I got these lovelies from Aradani [link] (painted light skin tone)
I was originally using a pair of Anime elf ears from their website because it's what I had on-hand for my planned Twilight Princess Link costume, but I felt they were a bit too long for Link's Skyward Sword design. So when it came to ordering ears for my husband's Groose cosplay, I went ahead and ordered myself a pair of the Small elf ears too so we'd match and I'd be happier XD

Do you have a pattern\reference for the blue designs on the shirt?
