Description

At long last I have photos of this costume! I finished it back in October, but now the weather is nice enough to get some photos.

New costume means info on costume construction!

The wig is a Jeannie in Spanish Brown from Arda Wigs. I re-sized the base because my head is tiny, and stubbed the ponytail. The hair piece from the clip-on was separated from the clip and glued over the stub. Just did a regular rope braid, and styled the bangs with lots of teasing, a glued hairline, and curled the pieces on the sides. You can find video tutorials for making gravity defying bangs like these as well as the glued hairline on the Arda Wigs tutorials page. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDUs78…www.youtube.com/watch?v=KawyKs…
Though I removed the plastic butterfly clip from the tail, the very base is still a little bulky, but the ribbon does a good job hiding it.

rather than making the dress one piece I made the bottom separate. I got two tank tops from Amazon and modified them with bias tape (I couldn't find a purple ribbon in the right size and color, so I had to make due)! Though my braid is hiding it here, the little flower embellishments on my left strap was made from a combination of some floral appliques and a daisy trim from JoAnn's.

The skirt is essentially a very wide rectangle that is gathered at the top. For the blue criss-cross parts I found a dark teal trim from a Chicago fabric warehouse that I trimmed down and spray-painted (unfortunately the fabric spray paint I got wasn't doing anything and I didn't have the time to hand-paint it). I also used a light blue cotton and matching lace around each piece of trim. The bottom edge is a purple quilt binding that matched my bias tape that I ironed open. I just trimmed one side so it was wavy, but I used fray-check to seal the edges.

The shoes were modified from a pair I found online. I painted the base white and covered the front bands with some pink material around craft foam. I used fabric paint and some of the flowers from the same daisy trim I had for the embellishments.

I didn't have the basket until more recently; I got it around Easter time and painted it a darker brown with acrylics, and it's filled with a variety of flowers that matched the basket from the Aerith Play Arts figure. :3
