Edit: Now with a tutorial! Progress photos and detailed information all here:
It's been over 3 years since I styled my first Yusei wig, and I'm happy to say it's gotten lots of love and use. I've had to fix it up numerous of times between conventions to retain its shape, but after so long the frizz builds up and the spikes get harder to fix. I figured that it was about time to style a new one, and I admit I was a bit intimidated by it even though I've already done it before. I wanted this new wig to reflect how much I've grown as a cosplayer in these past few years.
I was using a different base than the first one (Jareth from Arda-wigs instead of a Punky XL), and I was having such a hard time getting the spikes to stay up to the point that I almost gave up. I stepped away from it for a couple months, and I came back to it after an idea came to me. I knew what I needed to do.
I'm really happy with how this wig turned out. The shape in the spikes is more accurate to how Yusei's hair is supposed to be, and it's a lot more dramatic than my first wig. I'm so excited to be premiering this wig at Afest this weekend :3
I took some progress photos, but a few of them I need to get from other people (since I didn't always have a camera on me and had to borrow one). If I can gather them all together I'll post the process on how I did it.
