Osiris Red Jacket by Malindachan Osiris Red Jacket by Malindachan
Judai/Jaden work in progress!

since they don't sell red snaps anywere, I just used some gold ones I had leftover from my Yami cosplay.
The craftsmanship isn't my best, but I'm happy with how it turned out for the most part.

my wig should be coming in any day now, but I'll style it ASAP! (at this rate, this cosplay will be done before Spring break is over :3)

I'll scrap this picture once I get some photos of the whole thing.

Wow, how hard was it to make this?
How much did it cost.
Would you be against making another one for profit?

What sort of materials did you use to make the jacket? Next Halloween I'm planning to go out as a Slifer/Osiris Red Academy Duelist. Of all the Academy ranks I believe the Lowly Slifer Red are the better because no one suspects their great potential. Like myself. I get the bad hand... ALOT, but don't mean I suck. And I'd love to go to a regional tournament or even one day make it to championships while wearing the signature Slifer Red Jacket.

Any ways could you by chance send me like some basic knowledge on how to make the jacket from scratch? Materials and some various information you can supply to help make my own that will look almost as perfect as yours turned out.

Did you use the same pattern as the Ouran Jacket to make this (by modifying it, of course)?

Hi Malindachan! First of all I just want to say I LOVE the jacket! You're a really amazing cosplayer/seamstress!

Anyway, I hope this doesn't bother you, but I wanted to make some GX jackets like these for me and my friends to wear and I had a couple questions about the material you used to make this!

I was wondering, what type of fabric(s) did you use? And how comfortable it is to wear, in your own opinion? I'd just like to have some idea of what to look at when I go to the fabric store.

I based it off a pattern, but I had to make lots of adjustments with the pattern to get the right style and size I needed.

did you have to use a machine to get your snaps in? I found a few sites that sell them but they suggest buying a snap machine

um, thanks for all your help I'm sure I'll be able to make a great cosplay, assuming I can find where to get some seude, my fabrics store had none! =O AND ITS THE BIGGEST FABRIC FRANCHISE IN AUS!!!

buuuuuut I do have one more question, you remember how awesome I thought your yami yugi cosplay was? especially with his belt? did you have a pattern for that, or was it just a long rectangles with the edges folded over and studs hammered in?

:iconmalindachan:

lol, they were just long rectangles that were sewn, turned inside out, sewn over along the 2 edges, and with studs and snaps hammered in ^^

lol, tell your mom "thanks for the fabric" XD

I ended up using the flannel for the outside. the color was a little brighter, and I had less problems with it compaired to the normal cotton.

you sew stuff faster than anyone else I know.......It takes me three days to make a coat and like six hours to sew the snaps on....

Malindachan Featured By Owner Mar 22, 2008  Hobbyist General Artist
yeah sew on snaps are annoying >.<
I usually use embroirdery floss or use several strands of thread to make things go faster.

for this jacket though, I was able to use the non-sew snaps :3 (I finally bought one of those $20 snap application thingies). I still use sew-on snaps though for things where I don't want the snaps to show (like the Akatsuki coat and Fai's coats)

I forgot to sew on a snap at the very top of the coat, does that matter? I can't close it that far anyway or I can't see over the collar.
