Description

Finally finished! It's been two years since I made my original Yusei outfit, so I decided to take a step further and re-make certain parts of the outfit when making this version.
I'm really proud of how much I've improved over those two years, and I hope I can continue to get better in the years to come :3

Everything here was made myself except the pants (which were modified from a pair of jeans from Goodwill).

The following information is how I constructed this outfit:

Jacket: Base pattern was McCall's 5052, and I made adjustments to tailor it to my form and get the style I needed. Fabric was the same blue bottomweight I had leftover from my first Yusei Jacket, and I lined the inside with a black lining and blue bottomweight facing.Used bias tape around the edge that goes around the front and bottom, and the rest of the black trim is vinyl. Craft foam is inside the vinyl in certain areas to add dimension. Bigger bubbles on the shoulders and elbows are plastic ornaments that I painted orange on the inside. Bubbles in the collar are googly eyes that I cut open in the backs and painted. The patch was made with two layers of white fabric (heat n bond sandwiched between them), and I painted the design in fabric paint before satin-stitching black on the edges. I also satin-stitched around several vinyl spots to add a nice finished look.

Shirt: Used the pattern McCall's 5891 as a base, but made it more form-fitting. Shirt itself is made out of a black twill, and the design was made out of the same fabric I had leftover from my first Yusei shirt (was applied with heat n bond). I satin stitched the entire edge of the design to make it look pretty. Patch was made out of a thicker vinyl with orange bias tape. Put metal snaps into it as well.

Pants: modified a pair of jeans from Goodwill. Took out the belt loops and sewed in a belt I made out of craft foam covered in suede. Belt 'buckle" is made out of gray vinyl and attaches with velcro. Patches are made the same way as the one on the shirt. Knee pads are vinyl straps that velcro in the back, and the bubbles are plastic ornament halves like the ones on the Jacket.

Deck Boxes: Made completely from scratch with Foam board as a base, and then I covered them with suede and added snaps. They hold each of my Yusei-related decks! (one is strictly Yusei-only cards, and the other is my Dandy-Warrior deck XD)

Boot covers: I made a re-usable pattern back when I made my Guy Cecil cosplay (wrapped fabric around the boots, pinning and drawing seamlines before turning the fabric into a pattern). The nice thing about this version of the pattern is that the zippers are in the back instead of the sides. Made out of suede, and they're specifically meant to fit my knee-high boots, which I use for a lot of my other cosplays as well. Again, used vinyl for the black parts and googly eyes for the small bubbles.

Gloves: Used pattern Butterick 5370 to start with, but I had to modify the Gusset pieces slightly so the gloves would actually fit (it's originally meant for stretchy fabrics...and what I used does not stretch). made from the suede that matches the belt, deck boxes, and boot covers. Edge has vinyl and googly eye bubbles again like the boots.

Wig: Same one I've always been using. It's my pride and joy :3 (original WIP tutorial for that is in my gallery, but I have fixed it up a bit since I first styled it)

Makeup: I use the basics (foundation, concealer, powder) for my complexion, with kohl and liquid eyeliner for my eyes. The prison mark is a golden yellow Ben Nye Liquicolor paint with a very precise outline in liquid eyeliner.
