Wig Styling 101: Spiking by Malindachan Wig Styling 101: Spiking by Malindachan
I know I sorta covered this info in my Cloud wig tutorial and Yusei tutorial, but I've been wanting to make a simpler tutorial that was more about the basics rather than tackling crazy styles that needed extra extensions or foam/felt forms (The Cloud tutorial is more like an intermediate spiking tutorial, and the Yugioh wig tutorials are more advanced techniques).

To see my other wig tutorials, check out my folder here: [link]

Wig used in this tutorial was a Jaguar in Ginger Blonde 027 from Arda-wigs.com [link]

Thanks so much for the tutorial!  Question, for this method of spiking, do you need to pad the wig head to match your head size?  It doesn't seem like you need to, but better safe than sorry! xD  Thanks so much~!

Trimming and cutting are the only major things you need to concern yourself with. Try on the wig to know how short you need to cut it, and basically just never cut straight across. As for the tacky glue that is used in this tutorial. I was hesitant myself, but then I found out that it is actually rather simple and easy to wash out, just like Got2B. Just shampoo and rinse gently.

Hi there! I was wondering, have you ever tried to wash any of your wigs that has tacky glue on them? Using glue would really help when spiking wigs, but I like to wash them and style them again so I was wondering if that is possible then there is some tacky glue in them? But yeah, your wigs are really cool! Keep up the good work (:

I usually have to use my nails to pick out the glue. I wouldn't use glue if you plan to wash them. (I usually just wear a wig cap and keep them stored where they won't collect too much dust to keep them clean).

This was helpful~ I'm styling an Axel wig soon, and I couldn't for the love of LP's figure out how to spike. xD
This might be helpful in a future Ventus wig as well. c:

I have a "wig rack" made out of a board with some dowel rods sticking out of it. I just pin my wigs to the styrofoam head and stick them onto the dowels. When flying to a con though, I usually can only take one or two styled wigs and either wear them or hold them as a carry on or personal item.

Wig heads for the heavily styled ones, plastic bags for the ones that are a little more durable. It just depends on how much maintenance you're willing to do with the wig.
