Young Justice: Robinby *Malindachan

Finally brought my Robin Cosplay to a con and got some decent pictures! :3
One of my friends had a big Young Justice group, and they were needing a Robin for the DC photoshoot at Ikkicon. Much thanks to her for the invite, and also big thanks to Crunchy Ramen for being such an excellent Photographer! [link]

I originally made it within a couple days before the midnight release of the most recent Batman movie. I happened to have enough materials leftover from other costumes that I didn't have to buy anything extra for the outfit besides a couple zippers. It's not quite my ideal choice for fabrics, but I'm pretty happy for how it turned out considering I was on a tight budget at the time. XD

The wig is a Blue Steele in Black 064 from Arda-wigs, and I only had to do a bit of trimming in the front and minimal styling.

All the yellow fabric was leftover rib knit from Pikachu, and the black broadcloth was just something we had a large amount of since it's handy for linings and other things.

I had a poncho pattern I based the cape off of (shortened the front, lengthened the back, and took it in so it fits my shoulders well when my arms are down).

I stretched the yellow fabric over pieces of foam board and cardboard and hot-glued it in the back for his utility belt pieces. The belt itself is craft foam with fabric stretched over it the same way, and it velcros shut in the front.

I used a lightweight jacket pattern for the top base, and the fabric is a leftover red knit from Princess Jaden/Judai, with a black knit fabric for the sleeves. Yellow clasps are foam covered in the yellow fabric, and they go on with velcro. The "R" is heat-n-bond applique with nice satin-stitching around the edges.

There are two pieces of craft foam that are connected to the belt and also covered in the same red fabric as the top (made it this way so I could borrow black skinny pants from another cosplay without making any permanent changes. Ended up being a good idea because I forgot to pack said pants and ended up borrowing some black leggings from someone for the photoshoot).

The gloves are made out of the same kind of black knit fabric as my sleeves, and the grey pieces are made out of craft foam shapes that have grey fabric stretched over them.

The mask is just craft foam, and it's held on with spirit gum.

It's actually a newer Robin, from the Young Justice series. :3
I'm not super hardcore like some of my friends, but I enjoy the Batman movies and shows. I'd say Batman's my favorite American comic hero.

Aaaah awesoooome~ I just added the Riddler to my cosplay list. lol The Arkham Asylum version at least lol :3 and I sooo wanna cosplay Nightwing someday. lol
