Jounouchi Wig

Description

Another big wig styling project I did recently: a Jounouchi/Joey wig for my husband :iconex-shadow:, which he wore for the first time at Youmacon 2012.

It could still use some work here and there (some areas were a bit rushed since I didn't have a whole lot of time), but otherwise I'm pretty proud of it. :3

We used a One Coin chibi Jounouchi figure ( [link] )as the reference, and it's highly ironic that just recently they put out previews for a Jounouchi statue (but by the time I had seen it, I had already finished this wig. It's still similar enough to the chibi version though that I don't care about styling another XD). Since I was on a time crunch to get my Yami wig done for the RI YGO YCS, I put Kyle to work on making the 2 base stiff felt shapes for his "poofs" in the front. I ended up running out of time and couldn't finish his Jounouchi wig for the same event, so we used a different wig we had on-hand as a backup plan, but got back to work on it when we returned home (Youmacon was right around the corner). I then spent about a week carefully covering the shapes in hair from some wefts and styling the rest of the wig. The front pieces are tacked down near the crown with hot glue, and I used hair from the top of the wig to cover the edges along the backs of the shapes (and make them more secure). The little "doinky" things (I forgot what the proper anime term is for those?) are also stiff felt pieces that were covered on each side with extensions.

Wig base used: Jaguar in Light Blonde (013) with matching short wefts from Arda-wigs.com

I've got some wig tutorials here if you wanna see some more detailed descriptions and visuals on how some of this stuff is done: [link]
